Pumpkin Candy - Doce de Abobora


  • 1 kilo (2.2 pounds) pumpkin, peeled, discard the seeds – cut into cubes
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon, or more if desire

Place the pumpkin in a large pot with the sugar and water. Cook over low heat until the pumpkin completely dissolves, stirring constantly to not burn on the bottom. Add cloves and cinnamon and keep cooking and stirring until the candy is thick.

Let the mixture cool in the refrigerator and serve in small ramekins with whipping cream or creme anglaise.
