Pizzelle Cookies

Pizzelles are made from flour, eggs, sugar and butter, and then flavored with a hint of vanilla, lemon zest, or even anise. A pizzelle iron or machine is very similar to a waffle makes and can be found in almost any kitchen store. These delicate cookies are wonderful year round!


  • 1 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (or anise, almond or lemon zest)
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 large eggs

In a large bowl, beat all the of ingredients together on medium speed until well combined. Depending on the size of your pizzelle maker, pour the recommended amount of batter into the iron and cook until lightly golden and crisp. Enjoy with some holiday hot cocoa or a scoop of your favorite winter ice cream!
