Massa de Pastel


  • 400 grams flour
  • 200ml (8oz) water, warm
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 tablespoon cachaça


Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Knead the dough until smooth. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rest for 20 minutes. Roll out the dough to about a 1/4″ thickness. Spoon filling, fold and seal. Fry until lightly golden and enjoy!

Traditional Meat Filling Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 500g ground beef
  • 3 tablespoons green olives, chopped
  • 3 hard boiled eggs, chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 tablespoons parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chives, chopped


Add the oil to a saute pan over medium heat. Cook the onion and garlic until translucent. Add the meat and brown until cooked through. Add the remaining ingredients and stir until well combined. Set aside until ready to use.
