Hulda's Chocolate Pound Cake

Cake Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 8 tablespoons Nesquik chocolate drink powder
  • 5 eggs, separated
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

Preheat the oven to 350°.  Butter a bundt cake pan, including the center tube, and dust lightly with flour. Shake out any excess.In a medium bowl beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. In the bowl of a standing mixer beat the butter and sugar until pale white. Add eggs one at a time until well combined. Add chocolate, yogurt, sour cream, flour and baking powder. Fold in the egg whites. Pour the mixture into the bundt pan.

Bake until toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean, about 25-30 minutes.

Glaze Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 tablespoons Nesquik powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter

Cook over low heat until it starts to boil. Continue to boil for 2 to 3 minutes. Take from heat and prepare the cake. Perforate the cake all around with a very thick skewer and pour the glaze on top slowly, making sure the glaze sinks into all the holes.
