Aunt Ruth's Chocolate Pound Cake

  • 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder


Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
In the bowl of a standing mixer, beat the butter and sugar until pale. Add the sour cream, and then add the eggs, one at a time. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour,  cocoa powder and baking powder. Slowly add into the mixer, beating well to incorporate. Bake in and greased and floured cake pan for about 45-55 minutes, or a until toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
